a little about me

From a young age, creativity has been a constant in my life. I have always been drawn to making, sketching, building, and exploring new possibilities through art. I grew up in an environment that encouraged curiosity and exploration, and that foundation has led me to embrace the beautifully chaotic nature of life.

In my pursuit of a BFA in Graphic Design, I was taught to think critically, solve problems, and appreciate the little details. Simultaneously, I was introduced to the world of ceramics and was quickly enamored. Working with clay has rekindled my love of creating and expressing myself through art. The tactile quality of clay that brought slowness, resistance, and imperfection completely captivated me. This is when I first saw myself as an artist, using what I initially saw as the perfectly imperfect medium of clay to express myself. Each piece I create is a reflection of my design background and my love of texture, form, and quiet simplicity. Nature's beauty inspires me, and I strive to capture the intricate designs found all around us in my work.

My journey so far has shown me that being an artist isn’t about choosing one path but allowing all the parts of your story to shape your work. I’m still learning, still experimenting, and still discovering new ways to connect with the materials that speak to me. This ongoing discovery has manifested itself in a series I am working on called “Forever Garden,” exploring how flowers profoundly connect to friendship, forgiveness, death, and memories. I am aiming to explore how flowers relate to these topics and how they can alter the perception we have of events in our lives. Flowers are often involved or given for birthdays, funerals, weddings, apologies, and so many other varying life events. These delicate and ornate living organisms can profoundly affect one's life in ways they may never realize. This is the connection I am trying to dig deeper into with my work. How do flowers represent the memories we hold in our minds?
